Circle

Track 5

George Chamuris (August 2004)

For Kim

Time moves slow

when you’re young and careless, I know.

I found a place that seemed familiar –

but this time it’s a little different:

Could it be my eyes perceived

two figures wading there?

One was blonde, the other with brown hair.

Then she looked at me and I knew

I would never be quite the same again.

Time is sweet

when your heart is opened to love.

Nineteen seventy-one magic.

Young yet sure

we had a hold of something

Could it be our hearts perceived

a flame was growing there?

A light too bright - we didn’t seem to care.

Then she looked at me and I knew

I would never be quite the same again.

We spent the autumn days together

hand in hand we went.

Our love ran fast, but deep inside

we knew it couldn’t last.

Then she looked at me and I knew

I would never be quite the same again.

Time moves fast

when you’re a little older, I know.

To see you now completes a circle

in my heart, a circle in my heart.

In my heart, in my heart.
